INP Chief Pledges to Safeguard Government Policies

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo pledged on Thursday (10/2/2023) to safeguard government policies to maintain security and public order in the country.

During the closing ceremony of the 2023 Indonesian Military-INP Leadership Meeting at the Sultan Hotel in Jakarta, he explained that the leadership meeting followed the direction of President Joko Widodo when opening the meeting, which emphasized the protection of  national policy programs to expand and improve the welfare of the Indonesian people.

“Mr. President gave several directions related to what the Indonesian Military and INP should do, especially starting from how to maintain and guard investment, industrial investment and national policies. But on the one hand, we also have duties and responsibilities related to our main tasks to carry out security and law enforcement,” he said.

Furthermore, the Chief of the INP added that during the meeting, participants from all ranks were ready to protect the entire series of simultaneous general elections (in 2024 to run safely, peacefully and smoothly.

“To face the 2024 Election stages, of course we have been making security preparations, efforts to reduce polarization or things that lead to identity politics with a cooling system in collaboration with community leaders, religious leaders, regional leaders and all elements of society,” said the Chief.

In facing the 2024 elections, the general emphasized the importance of maintaining the unity and integrity of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

“We  should always remember that the name of unity and integrity must be maintained despite differences of choice or opinion, and do not sacrifice unity,” he asserted.

In addition, the Indonesian Military and the INP are ready to guard and secure all international agendas in Indonesia, including Formula 1 (F1) Power Boat that is scheduled to be held at Lake Toba in Medan on February 25-26, 2023 and the U-20 World Cup.

The INP has invited instructors from Coventry University in the United Kingdom  to assist with the management of soccer competitions.

“We must secure it due to its possible impacts on our nation and multiplier effects for the surrounding community,” he said.

The meeting discussed other issues such as the protection of conflict-prone areas with an emphasis on improving the quality of INP services to the community as well as the prevention of forest and land fires.

The Chief of the INP urged regional police offices whose areas are prone to forest and land fires to anticipate it.

“There is this ASAP digital application to monitor forest and land fires and tools that must be prepared when a fire occurs. We ask all of them to be active and anticipate.  If there is a hotspot, it can be extinguished immediately,” he concluded.
