Divisi Humas Polri – Jakarta. The joint forces of the Indonesian National Police (INP) and Indonesian Military are continuing their efforts to release the Susi Air pilot, Philip Mehrtens, who remains in captivity of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) led by Egianus Kogoya.

In a press conference held on Monday (6/3/23), Brigadier General Ahmad Ramadhan, the Head Bureau of Public Affairs of INP Headquarters stated that the Papua Regional Police, along with the Regional Government, religious figures, and community leaders, are working tirelessly to maintain a peaceful environment and prevent any loss of life.

Meanwhile, due to the KKB’s ever-changing location, the search area has been expanded to cover two districts, namely Nduga and Lanny Jaya.

“Currently, our efforts have been expanded to search in two districts, Nduga and Lanny Jaya. This broader search area may offer more valuable insights into the situation. It should be noted that the search and rescue operation for the pilot is open-ended, with no time limit imposed,” said Police Senior Superintendent Faizal Ramadani, the Head of the 2023 Peace Cartenz Operation Task Force.
