tribratanews.polri.go.id - Palembang Police (Polrestabes Palembang) raided a gambling at Sako Terminal, Sako District. A total of 13 gamblers were taken to the Polrestabes Palembang and they are threatened to celebrate Eid behind the bars.
"With the help of the sectoral police, we raided the gambling. This was part of the operation in purifying public diseases," said Palembang Police Chief (Kapolrestabes Palembang) Commissioner Mokhammad Ngajib, Friday (4/8/2022).
Based on their investigation, that location is a prominent place for gambling. It is also known that people often do the gambling there from morning to before noon.
"Usually the gambling starts from early morning towards noon. There are many kinds of people who do the gambling there, including workers, private employees, drivers, and so on," he said.
From the raid, the police secured several pieces of evidence such as hundreds of thousands of cash, a deck of cards, and a domino card. Kapolrestabes Palembang also appealed to people who still often do gambling not to repeat it.
"Don't let these activities taint your fasting. No acts of wrongdoing are justified," he stressed.
For their actions, the 13 arrested gamblers were charged with Article 303 of the Criminal Code on Gambling, with a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison.
