Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. Strategic Studies Institute of Indonesian Police (Lemkapi) praised Indonesian National Police (INP) for its swift and decisive response to instances of misconduct among its members. One of the proofs was the firm action taken by the Metropolitan Jaya Police against Commissioner D, who was involved in a fatal traffic accident that claimed the life of a student in Cianjur, West Java.
“It was discovered that Commissioner D had a relationship with the woman involved, and further investigation revealed he had two wives. This constituted a violation of the code of ethics, as it tarnished the dignity and reputation of the institution. Therefore, he was processed accordingly,” said the Executive Director of Lemkapi Edi Saputra Hasibuan in a statement on Sunday (5/2/23).
He went on to commend the police force’s professional conduct, despite the fact that Commissioner D was not officially designated as a suspect in the traffic accident case. This held true for another fatal traffic accident case involving a retired police officer and a student of University of Indonesia.
“In my opinion, the retired police officer is not guilty in this case. The controversy surrounding the case has been prolonged, and there is still no resolution between the retired police officer and the victim’s family,” he said.
He emphasized that with involvement of members and retired officers of INP in those cases, internal supervision to ensure that any violations of ethics are promptly detected and addressed is needed.
