Indonesian Government Received the Highest Award From Turkish Government for the Humanitarian Mission

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian government has been awarded the Order of Superior Sacrifice Medal, the highest award given by the Turkish government, for the country’s exceptional humanitarian mission during natural disasters.

The award was given by the President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan at “The State Superior Sacrifice Medal Award Ceremony” an event attended by 90 foreign representatives on April, 24-25 2023.

Representing the Indonesian government at the event was Brigadier General Lukmansyah, National Agency for Disaster Management (BNPB) Special Staff/Head of Operations for the Indonesian Humanitarian Mission in Türkiye

“On behalf of the Indonesian government, we express our gratitude for the award medal from the Government of Türkiye,” he said on Thursday (27/4/23).

Indonesian Ambassador for Türkiye Lalu Muhammad Iqbal added, “Türkiye has always been present at difficult times for Indonesia, from pre-Indonesian independence, the 2006 Tsunami disaster, the earthquake in Palu, and during the Covid-19 pandemic. Indonesia is proud to be able to assist Türkiye in the aftermath of the earthquake last February.”

During the earthquake in Türkiye, the Indonesian government sent search and rescue teams, and emergency medical teams, set up a field hospital, sent humanitarian logistics aid, including 59 containers of food supplies, and deployed emergency logistics transportation Hercules C-130 TNI AU for over a month.
