The Traffic Directorate of the Riau Regional Police starting Monday (11/21), implemented the Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) Mobile. ETLE Mobile is a new method of enforcing traffic law using ETLE mobile camera used by Police officers.
Director of Traffic unit of Riau Regional Police, Commissioner Firman Darmansyah said that ETLE Mobile was able to reduce the number of traffic violations and reduce the number of fatalities on the highway. "That's why this electronic ticket is being issued to increase public awareness when driving in Riau, especially Pekanbaru City," he explained, quoted from ntmcpolri.info, Sunday (11/20).
Commissioner Firman Darmansyah said that ETLE Mobile is prioritized in areas where there are no static ETLE cameras. Violations will be photographed using a camera by members of the Traffic Police who are already been trained. Then the photo will be used as evidence in court.
"The fines with this method aims to increase the sense of discipline in driving in the community and minimize the extortion by unlawful officers," explained the Riau Regional Police Traffic Director.
According to him, the officer identified the vehicle data using Electronic Registration & Identification (ERI) as the source of vehicle data. Later, the officer will send confirmation letter to the address of violators.
“The receiver will have a time limit of eight days after they violated the traffic law to confirm through the website or go directly to the office of Riau Police Traffic Sub-Directorate Service in the Field of Law Enforcement. You can pay the fine via BRI Virtual Account (BRIVA) for every violations that have been verified,” said Commissioner Firman.
