Cartenz Peace Ops Attended the Traditional Rituals of Stone Burning in Mamberamo Raya

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Papua.  The Koteka Program of Cartenz Peace Ops held a traditional rituals of the locals, stone-burning, with hundreds of people as well as community leaders and traditional leaders in Mamberamo Raya Village, Abepura District, Jayapura, Papua (9/11/22).

The stone burning is a cultural event that has been passed down to generations as means of communications and gathering. In this event, the Cartenz Peace Ops Task Force was seen attended the traditional event along with Papuans to ensure the security of the region while strengthening their bond.

Deputy Head of the Noken Community Development Task Force, Commissioner Yamin Dian Priono, explained that the tradition of stone-burning is a symbol of the simplicity of the Papuan people which illustrates the existence of equal rights, justice, togetherness, cohesiveness, honesty and sincerity that brings peace.

"The stone-burning event is a proof of togetherness and success in improving the welfare of the community," said Commissioner Yamin Dian Priono, as reported by the Antara news agency.

Commissioner Yamin Dian Priono explained that the tradition of burning stones is one of the methods in Koteka Program. On the other hand, this activity provides a face-to-face meeting with local figures who had an influental voice in the community.

Cartenz Peace Ops is a task force created by the government through the National Police with the aim of improving welfare and economy of the Papuan people.
