Yogyakarta Regional Police Prepares Self-Isolation Shelter for Members and Family

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Yogyakarta Regional Police prepares isolation shelter special for members of police and families who have been confirmed Covid-19 positive. The shelter is located at Flat of Water Police Directorate of Yogyakarta Regional Police, Kretek District, Bantul Regency.

"Total 48 rooms containing 96 beds in southern building of Water Police Directorate Headquarter are available as treatment rooms for members of Regional Police and their families who are undergoing treatment due to Covid-19," Head of Public Affairs of Yogyakarta Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Yuliyanto explained in press release at the inauguration of self-isolation shelter at Water Police Directorate of Yogyakarta Regional Police, Friday (07/09/2021).
He also explained previously the sick members of Yogyakarta Regional Police were treated at Yogyakarta Bhayangkara Police Hospital.

"However, due to the limited available rooms and increasing need for hospitalization, especially during the Covid-19 pandemic, Yogyakarta Regional Police innovated by using Water Police Headquarter as a temporary self-isolation shelter," he said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Chief of Yogyakarta Regional Police, Police Brigadier General R. Slamet Santoso said, the increasing number of Covid-19 cases affects the room availability at Covid-19 refferal hospital. This became the background for Yogyakarta Regional Police to make shelter at Flat of Water Police Directorate of Yogyakarta Regional Police.

"To anticipate patients accumulation, especially Yogyakarta Regional Police’s personnels at Bhayangkara Hospital and other public hospitals, Yogyakarta Regional Police uses Flat of Water Police Directorate of Yogyakarta Regional Police as shelter for self-isolation,” Deputy Chief of Yogyakarta Regional Police said.

According to him, this is a very positive breakthrough. It is expected the self-isolation shelter could be solution in the middle of full occupied rooms at hospitals due to the increasing of Covid-19 cases.

"And it can reduce the surge of Covid-19 patients at referral hospitals, especially Bhayangkara Hospital, so Yogyakarta Regional Police members and their families who are exposed to mild Covid-19 symptomps can be handled,” Deputy Chief of Yogyakarta Regional Police said.

Regarding daily needs in the shelter, there will be prepared including 10 health workers who are ready to serve. Shelter facilities such as bathrooms are in every room, air conditioning, trash cans, and even fire extinguishers are also available.

"This shelter will temporarily only be used for Indonesia National Police personnels and their families, so it cannot be used by the general public," he concluded.
