Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. Forest and land fires (karhutla) are still a priority for handling the Riau Regional Police in 2021. It is recorded that the Riau Regional Police and the Police have processed 14 cases of forest and land fires in the period January to July 2021.

Pol. Grand Commissioner. Sunarto explained that of the 14 cases handled by the Riau Police, 10 of them have entered Phase II, then 1 case of Phase I, and 3 other cases are still under investigation.
He detailed that the Special Criminal Investigation Directorate (Ditreskrimsus) of the Riau Regional Police handled 1 case with 1 suspect and 37 hectares of land burned. Then 3 cases were handled by the Indragiri Hilir Resort Police with an area of 13 hectares of burned land. Pelalawan Police handled 1 case with a burned area of 0.5 hectares.
Bengkalis National Police handled 3 cases, 3 suspects with 3.5 hectares of burned land. Siak Police handled 1 case, 1 suspect with a burned area of 0.04 hectares.
Furthermore, Dumai Police handled 2 cases, 2 suspects with 10.25 hectares of burned land, Meranti Islands Police handled 1 case, 1 suspect with 5 hectares of burned land. The Kampar Police also handled 2 cases, 2 suspects with 1.5 hectares of burned land.
