President Joko Widodo and Mrs. Iriana Welcomes G20 Delegates to Dinner in GWK

Tribratanews.polri.go.id –   President Joko Widodo and Mrs. Iriana Joko Widodo hosted a dinner for the leaders of the G20 countries. The President and Mrs. Iriana, who looked elegant wearing Balinese traditional clothes, arrived at GWK at around 19:00 WITA. The President and Mrs. Iriana then welcomed the arrival of the guests while taking a group photo in front of the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue.

The President expressed his appreciation for the presence of the leaders of the G20 countries and international institutions at GWK. "Leaders of the G20 countries, invitees, international organizations, ladies and gentlemen, thank you for coming to Garuda Wisnu Kencana," said the President in his remarks before starting the dinner.

The President also briefly told what is Garuda Wisnu Kencana Statue meant to the invited guests. "In Balinese mythology, this statue depicts love, responsibility, courage, and devotion. And this is also become our duty to the world and humanity," said the President.

President Jokowi then invited the guests to eat the dishes that had been prepared. "Please enjoy the dish we have prepared for you,” said the President. “I hope it is not too spicy for your excellencies," jest Jokowi accompanied with his smile.

At the dinner, the invitees were treated to a variety of foods from various regions, such as from Bali, Java, North Sulawesi, Lampung, West Sumatra, North Sumatra, to Aceh. As an appetizer, the G20 leaders enjoyed the "Aneka Ratna Mutumanikam" (diversity in one) dish consisting of mangoes, seaweed, salad with Balinese rujak seasoning, to Manado crab meat corn cakes.

Meanwhile, for the main menu (main course), the invitees were served, among others, Wagyu beef tenderloin from Lampung, Padang rendang, cassava and potato mousseline, asparagus in Balinese turmeric sauce, to eggplant balado. As for the dessert menu, the invitees enjoyed Acehnese chocolate mousse, tuille rice, black glutinous rice with grated coconut, and mango coulis.

After dinner, the heads of delegations and invited guests were then treated to various cultural performances. More than 200 dancers performed attractions depicting the richness and diversity of Indonesia's cultural heritage.

The performance with the same theme as the G20, "Recover Together, Recover Stronger", consisted of four rounds that described the difficult situation due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Behind these difficulties, there are also strong opportunities to grow stronger and remain optimistic. The cultural appearance also reminds all parties to start holding hands together, living in harmony, and spreading happiness.
