Indonesia National Police Asks Community to Focus on Getting Out of Covid-19 Spike

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian National Police asks public to stop debate regarding the handling of Covid-19 in the country as victims are increasing. What needs to be done now is to focus on getting out of Covid-19 spike together.

"Now is the time to focus on getting out of this situation," Head of Public Information Bureau of Public Affairs Division of Indonesia National Police, Police Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, in a webinar entitled "Emergency PPKM, Safe Indonesia", which was held online by Public Affairs Division of Indonesia National Police, Wednesday (7/7/2021).

He expects community can comply with the Implementation of Emergency PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) which has been set by President Joko Widodo on July 1, 2021, and will take effect on July 3-20, 2021 as way to get out of the current Covid-19 spike situation.

"Let's show our greatness by being disciplined and obeying the Emergency PPKM. We are great, Indonesia is safe, " Head of Public Information Bureau of Public Affairs Division of Indonesia National Police said.

Data from Ministry of Health shows on Wednesday (06/30/2021) number of new cases reached 21,807, which means the total number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia reach 2.178 million.

On July 2, 2021, number of confirmed positive cases increased by 25,830 patients, which means total number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia is 2,228,938.Wednesday (6/7), number of positive cases reached 31,189 patients, which means total number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia is 2,345,018 patients.

In line with Head of Public Information Bureau of Public Affairs Division of Indonesia National Police, the artist who is also member of Commission IX of Indonesian House of Representatives, Arzeti Bilbina, said it was necessary to develop an attitude of optimism in dealing with the surge in Covid-19 cases in the country.

"Optimism is healthier, more beneficial for yourself and the environment, thus making the future brighter," Arzeti explained.

Arzeti said we need optimism by being grateful, smile more, exercise, healthy diet, and take vitamin D, think ahead, stop blaming others, and spread the good news.

She said due to the surge of Covid-19 pandemic thus Emergency PPKM need to be undertaken, the positive side is we have more time for family, ourselves, no need to struggle with traffic jams and pollution, and our body is healthier.

Meanwhile, psychologist A Kasandra Putranto in her presentation reminding the importance of information and education related to increasing cases, types of virus mutations, dangers, fast handling and hotlines.
"It is important to have communication strategy approach with diverse content, interesting, and effective," Kasandra said while adding the importance of involving public figures/key opinion leaders with various media.

Head of the Behavior Change Division of Covid-19 Task Force, Sonny Harry B Harmadi, said the Emergency PPKM is implemented in 124 of 128 (96.8 percent) districts/cities on the island of Java. "There are sanctions for those who do not implement Emergency PPKM, both for local government, business entity and community," Sonny said.

Meanwhile, Head of Operational of Traffic Corps of Indonesia National Police, Police Grand Commissioner  Rudy Antariksawan said in his presentation, regarding the implementation of Emergency PPKM, Indonesia National Police deploys 21,618 personnels to secure 407 locations of restrictions/insulation  and controlling mobility in Java to Bali.

From 3 days operation, there are several findings such as many people have no understanding on the implementation of Emergency PPKM because it is still in the early stages. Also, many drivers have no urgent needs, there are still reckless drivers, many people are not aware of the impact of being exposed to Covid-19 and staff's lack of understanding of essential and critical sector criteria.

"For this reason, Indonesia National Police prioritizes preventive, educative action, firm, and  humanist to  community members with the stages of giving appeals, sympathetic reminders, and decisive action," Police Grand Commissioner  Rudy Antariksawan said.
