In Collaboration with HMI and SEMMI, Chief of Police Optimistic Herd Immunity would be Formed around August or September

Chief of Police, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, visited a mass vaccination event in collaboration with the Management Committee of Islamic Student Association (PB HMI) in State Senior High School 38 and Management Committee of Indonesian Muslim Student Union (PB SEMMI) in Indraprasta University, Jakarta, on Thursday (15/7/2021). Sigit said that due to the existence of youth people at the forefront in the Covid-19 pandemic handling, he is optimistic that Coronavirus herd immunity could be formed around August to September. "Therefore, our target for the end of the year is that at least on August or September we could achieve herd immunity", Sigit said during his visitation. Along with the achieved government's target to materialise herd immunity, the former Chief of Banten Regional Police also emphasises that people's economic sector hampered by the pandemic could be recovered again. "Later, public activity is expected to return to its activities so that economic recovery can do well", the former Chief of Criminal Investigation Agency of the Indonesian National Police said. Optimism on herd immunity would be materialised. According to Sigit, it is evident from the high enthusiasm of the 12-year-olds plus who are being vaccinated. "Today, we conduct the vaccination for the 12-year-old children and above such as Junior and Senior High School students, and Elementary School students (that are eligible) also could be vaccinated. It is indeed, through the enthusiastic atmosphere of the children and teenagers willing to be vaccinated is good news for us all", the former Chief of Profession and Security Division of Indonesian National Police said. Meanwhile, Sigit hopes that this mass vaccination collaboration could be spread throughout the archipelago. Given that synergy, cooperation, and hand-in-hand between groups become the key in the Covid-19 pandemic handling. "I hope that this activity could be continued to other regions we are in cooperation with so the vaccine acceleration effort in achieving the herd immunity that we are waiting for, so public life could slowly return to normalcy. Of course, we hope that all of these could be achieved soon", Sigit said. Sigit also informs the vaccination participants of the importance of Health Protocols, even if already vaccinated. As information, the mass vaccination event in State Senior High School 38 held by PB HMI targets 1,000 people daily. The event is held for two days, from July 15 to 16, 2021. The vaccinators involved in this event are 13 people, five from Police and eight from HMI. The committees also provide the #remajaambilperan hashtag (lit. #teenagersinvolved) to succeed in the mass vaccination for teenagers during this event. Meanwhile, the mass vaccination event held by PB SEMMI in Indraprasta University also targets 1,000 people vaccinated per day. There are 15 vaccinators from the Doctor and Health Agency of the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police.
