Hoarding Covid-19 Therapeutic Drugs, Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police Secures 24 Peoples

Disclosure of hoarding of Covid-19 therapeutic drugs is not the first time the police have carried out during the pandemic. Perpetrators are people who seek only profit when society suffers. They buy Covid-19 therapeutic drugs, stockpile them, then resell them at many times the price.
"There is avigan. We see that the price of Avigan is not too expensive, but because it is stockpiled and scarce, it is sold for tens of millions," he said.
Of the 24 peoples, there were nurses who were also arrested for taking drugs from patients who had died. He collected and then sold at a high price.
Of the 24 people, the initials were BC, MS, AH, RS, LO, RH, TF, NN, SJ, MS, MH, RB, AH, SO, YN, HH, AA, UF, LP, DW, MI, MR, DS. , and MD. Evidence in the form of 6,964 items and 27 vials of various brands of Covid-19 therapeutic drugs were also secured.
The stockpiled drugs include Avigan, Favipiravir, Acterma, Fluvir Oseltamir, Azithromycin, and Ivermectin. The perpetrators get drugs by buying from the hospital using fake doctor's prescriptions.
The drug in question, namely Avigan Favipiravir 200 mg tablets is sold for IDR 200,000 from the normal price of IDR 22,500. Actemra 80 mg/4 ml is sold for IDR 40,000,000 from the normal price of IDR 1,162,200. Fluvir Oseltamivir 75 mg tablets are sold for IDR 100,000 from the normal price of IDR 26,000.
Then, Azithromycin 500 mg tablets are sold for Rp. 13,500 from the normal price of Rp. 1,700 HET. Then, Ivermectin 12 mg tablets are sold for Rp. 75,000 from the normal price of Rp. 7,500.
The perpetrators have now been named suspects and detained at the Greater Jakarta Metro. Regional Police's Detention Center. The suspects were charged with Article 196 and/or Article 198 of Law No. 36 of 2009 concerning Health and Article 62 in conjunction with Article 10 of Law No. 8 concerning Consumer Protection.
"All of these are threatened with a sentence of 10 years in prison, concluded the Head of Public Relations."
