Head of Security Maintenance Agency Mentioned Nusa II Advanced Safe Operation Prioritising Covid-19 Prevention

Jakarta – Chief of Indonesia National, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has issued Telegram Letter (STR) numbered STR/577/VII/OPS.2./2021, regarding Nusa II Safe Advanced Safe Operation for Covid-19 Handling. It follows up on the implementation of Emergency PPKM (Community Activity Restrictions) in Java and Bali.

Head of Security Maintenance Agency of Indonesia National Police who is also the Head of Central Operation at, Commissioner General Arief Sulistyanto said Nusa II Advanced Safe Operation would prioritise the process of preventing corona virus or Covid-19.

"The most important step is to reduce the positive numbers. Starting with restrictions on community activities, education, socialisation and the implementation of health protocols strictly. It is hoped the community will comply with Covid-19 prevention," Arief said during a review on Emergency PPKM in the jurisdiction of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Saturday (07/03/2021).

According to Arief, the implementation of Emergency PPKM policy must be understood by all parties. Considering the police have conducted insulation at 407 points to limit community mobility or movement.

The restrictions, said Arief, are aimed to protect the public from Covid-19 and step to suppress and reduce transmission.

"If there is violation, step to be taken is enforcing the law from reminding to taking action in an objective and humanist way. Public must be able to understand and obey the regulations, because it’s for our common interest," Arief said.

Meanwhile, from the results of his review, Arief revealed, in the jurisdiction of the Metro Jaya Regional Police, there are still community activities in markets and street vendors and the traffic flow is still monitored to be busy.

However, according to Arief, the movement is categorised essential activity as it is related to the fulfillment of people's main needs. For traffic flow, public transportation is indeed decreasing but online motorcycle taxis are still operating as they are capable of fullfilling the community’s needs online.

Therefore, Arief advised to all police officers and public to keep prioritising health protocols.

Arief and his staff carried out review at several points, such as insulation area in South Jakarta Regional Police at the check point of Ciputat Friday Market. Then proceed the insulation in Bekasi City area.
