Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police: Jakarta Has Achieved Covid-19 Herd Immunity as Referred by WHO

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police stated that Jakarta had achieved herd immunity, based on the reference determined by the World Health Organisation that 70% of the people have been vaccinated.

"According to WHO, it is 70%. Today, Jakarta has passed 95.5%, so this has passed the requirement from WHO", the Chief of PR and Press Agency of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Yusri Yunus.

Chief of PR and Press Agency said that the vaccination programme held by the Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Regional Police also managed to push Jakarta to be the province with the highest vaccination number in Indonesia.

"Jakarta is now on vaccination acceleration programme, and now it is number one in vaccination number in Indonesia. Thank God", Chief of PR and Press Agency said.

Chief of PR and Press Agency also added that vaccination and Health Protocols are the efforts of Armed Forces-Police and the government in suppressing Covid-19 transmission. He hopes that Jakarta could become the barometer for Indonesia in the mass vaccination programme.

The Merdeka vaccination programme is one of the strategies of the Regional Leaders Communication Forum of Jakarta Capital Region Province to accelerate vaccination in order to achieve 100% herd immunity in the capital.

The Merdeka vaccination programme, launched by the Chief of Police, Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo, would be conducted from August 1 to 17, 2021, in commemorating the 76th Indonesian independence anniversary.

The vaccination programme becomes the solution for the Jakartans because it comes to their neighbourhood, making the vaccination accessible.

The Merdeka vaccination programme targets 100% of Jakartans to be vaccinated on August 17, 2021.

In this programme, 687 vaccination outlets in 900 Neighbourhood Associations have been established and supported by volunteers such as health workers, Student Regiments, local community administrators, and mothers of the Family Welfare Movement.
