Budi (59) is one of the residents who was exposed to Covid-19. Knowing that one of the resident in his working area was in bad condition, Antonius Agus rushed to evacuate by wearing complete Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
The number two person at the South Jakarta Resort Police decided to immediately evacuate Budi to the hospital.
The evacuation was in rush as the ambulance did not arrive soon; while Budi had to get treatment immediately.
Deciding to take the patient immediately, Pol. Grand Commissioner Attendant Antonius Agus rushy took the patient by using the local people’s car.
"I took him by car that belong to a concerned citizen. We are not medical person. We only care. This is our responsibility," he said.
According to the procedure, Pol. Grand Commissioner Attendant Antonius Agus was sprayed with disinfectant. After removing the PPE, he again coordinated to take Budi to Pasar Minggu Hospital as soon as possible.
However, fate has its own way, the Middle Officer could not hold his tears when he heard Budi could not be saved. Tears in his eyes. He felt disappointed not to be able to save Budi's life. Pol. Grand Commissioner Attendant Antonius Agus' regrets led to an apology and an evaluation of Covid-19 handling.
The Deputy Chief of South Jakarta Metropolitan Police also felt guilty to Budi’s family. He promised to bring Budi home, but in fact Budi could not be saved.
"Mr. Budi should be able to return to his family. For Mrs. Budi, I'm sorry, Ma’am, I promised to bring your husband safely. Sorry, Ma’am, take care of your health," he said while wiping his tears.
