Efforts to Realise Herd Immunity, East Java Regional Police Chief Implement Vaccination for Papuan Community in Surabaya

Tribratanews.polri.go.id. – Surabaya. East Java Police Chief, Inspector General Pol. Nico Afinta, accompanied by the Main Officer of the East Java Regional Police and the Surabaya Police Chief, checked the implementation of the Free Vaccination for the Papuan community, at the Lahai Roi Keputih Pentecostal Church (GPDI), Surabaya city accompanied by the GPDI Council Management Lahai Roi. Checking includes the implementation of vaccination stages, starting from screening, registration, vaccination and observation.

This activity aims to support government programs, in order to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 and efforts to achieve herd immunity in East Java. This time, 46 peoples were vaccinated for the first dose and 104 people for the second dose. The total number of people who were vaccinated in this activity was 150 people. Assisted by health workers from the East Java Regional Police's Doctor and Health Field as many as 8 personnel.

The East Java Regional Police Chief thanked the Pastor and the people who came and wanted to be vaccinated. As well as supporting programs from the government to create or realize herd immunity.

"Because we know that in dealing with COVID-19, apart from implementing the 5M health protocol, namely wearing masks, maintaining distance, washing hands, avoiding crowds and reducing mobility, vaccination is also one way to prevent COVID-19," he explained.

Not to forget, the Regional Police also thanked the Health Workers (Nakes) who were there to help with the vaccination, so that it could run smoothly. "In the future, of course, after vaccination, every activity carried out by the community as well as for the Papuan people is to obey the protest," the police chief appealed.

In addition, the Regional Police also explained that in implementing Community Activity Restrictions, in accordance with the instructions of the Minister of Home Affairs Number 30 of 2021, the agglomeration area has 1 level II, 19 levels III and 18 levels IV.

“The city of Surabaya itself is in level IV, but there are some experiments in opening malls, opening several places such as markets and so on. However, there is one condition, namely showing a vaccine card," he said.

"So with current vaccinations, Papuan people if they want to carry out economic activities can be helped by this," added the Regional Police Chief.

Furthermore, the Regional Police Chief also conveyed a request for support to the community, in the success of government programs, namely vaccination.

"Come on, the people of East Java come to government-owned outlets at the puskesmas or come to the vaccination booths of the Police or the National Armed Forces. The hope is that all people in East Java can be vaccinated, and until now we are still waiting for several vaccines to come. The total that has been vaccinated according to our target has reached 24 percent," he explained.

"Of the 24%, the total is 11 million, all people in East Java. Then for junior high school children aged 12 years and over, it can also be registered. Let's carry out vaccines to keep all of us healthy," said the Regional Police Chief.

In addition, the East Java Regional Police Chief also added, in carrying out the vaccination for Papuans in Surabaya, he is ready to prepare whatever is needed, as long as it meets the requirements, including participants aged 12 years and over, preparing a place so that they can be vaccinated.

"We will prepare health workers and vaccines later. Currently there are 150 who are carrying out vaccinations," he concluded.
