Concern for Orphans, Central Java Regional Police Launches 'Aku Sedulurmu' Program

Chief of Central Java Regional Police, Police Inspector General Ahmad Luthfi through Head of Public Affairs of Central Java Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Pol M Iqbal Alqudusy said Aku Sedulurmu program target children throughout Central Java.who are victims of Covid-19 by helping the cost of education

Head of Public Affairs of Central Java Regional Police added Central Java Regional Police would help with education fee from Elementary School (SD) to Senior High School (SMA) other than those borne by the Government..

"We will help with the cost of uniforms and shoes as well as fee for additional lesson. These costs can also be used flexibly for additional needs such as stationery, books, practice fees and so on," Head of Public Affairs of Central Java Regional Police explained.

Head of Public Affairs of Central Java Regional Police added if there are family, relatives or neighbors who have become orphans due to Covid-19, they should register immediately with Resort Police in their respective regions.

Based on data from Covid-19 Handling Task Force as of July 20, 2021, it is known that 11,045 children have become orphans. On the other hand, number of children exposed to Covid-19 was 350,000 children and 777 children died.

Children are vurnerable to Covid-19. Therefore, government has set policy to accelerate vaccination for children aged at least 12 years.

Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini explained Ministry of Social Affairs through Center for Social Rehabilitation and Social Rehabilitation Facilitators had received reports regarding children by name by address whose parents who died due to Covid-19.

"So far, accurate data by name by address regarding orphans whose parents died due to Covid-19 are still in the process of being collected by our team in the field. However, facilitators have also carried out case responses for these children,” Minister of Social Affairs explained.
