In commemoration of the 75th Bhayangkara Day, the National Police provided as many as 250 packages of basic food assistance to non-Java students from Eastern Indonesia who were affected by Covid-19 at Tama Jagakarsa University, South Jakarta. The assistance was symbolically given by the Head of the Bureau of Bureaucratic Reform of the Indonesian National Police, Assistant to the National Police Chief for Planning and Budgeting of the Police, Pol. Brigadier General I Wayan Sunartha to student representatives.
On the day of the 75th Bhayangkara Day, we from the police representatives carry out sharing of love for all members of the community, especially younger students from the Eastern Indonesia region who carry out their study assignments in Jakarta, this social service activity is routinely carried out every year as a series of events. Chairman of Police Bureaucratic Reform at Srena National Police said, in the current pandemic conditions, many people are experiencing difficulties, especially non-Java students who are far from their families and cannot return to their homes due to restrictions in several areas affected by Covid-19. He hopes that this assistance can be useful and ease the burden on students, as well as urge students to continue to apply health protocols in their daily lives.
"Hopefully this support will be useful for all of the younger siblings in carrying out the teaching and learning process and of course we urge students to obey with health protocols such as wearing masks, always keeping a distance and diligently washing hands," he said.
Meanwhile, one of the student representatives who received assistance, Roy expressed his gratitude to the Police for paying attention to non-Java students from Eastern Indonesia. He said that there were many families from regional students whose economies were affected by Covid-19, this of course had an effect on non-Java students in carrying out their daily lives and meeting their educational needs.
"I am very grateful to the Indonesian National Police (Polri) for taking care of us as nomads children, this assistance is very useful for us. We also feel that our parents' economy is experiencing problems in this Covid-19 era, even many of my friends are also constrained by campus costs," said Roy.
