Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. Chief of Riau Regional Police, Police Inspector General Agung Setya Imam Effendi, stated that Police are ready to support and strengthen the security of the oil palm plantation of the state-owned company, Perkebunan Nusantara 5 Ltd (PTPN V), from the production theft actions.

"Which area that requires Police presence, (when) the fruit is ripening but prone to theft, we will help it. Please coordinate with us", the two-star general said during his visit at the PTPN V in Rambutan street, Pekanbaru, on Thursday (26/8/21).

This step is a form of Police support to help PTPN V, which has reached the highest ever fresh fruit bunch productivity level in history. Moreover, the increased production coincides with the rapid rising of oil palm prices in recent times.

"The PTPN V has existed, and we want to contribute to their ecosystem. The oil palm theft must be eradicated, and the perpetrators must get a deterrent effect", Chief of Riau Regional Police said.

"We also remind every Sectoral Police, mainly to the minor criminal perpetrator who often take refuge with other laws and regulations that limit certain values, then there is a plantation law that can be used", he added.

During the said occasion, the Chief of Riau Regional Police also appreciated strategies of PTPN V that successfully records the highest profit in history in 2020, with Rp417 billion of net income. This profit is potentially overtaken this year because the unaudited net profit of the first semester of 2021 has reached Rp492 billion.

Efficiency and correct strategy make PTPN V a strong company so it could continue to record brilliant performance. This golden opportunity must be optimised to increase welfare and advance the national economy.

"According to Chief of Riau Regional Police, the advancement is gathered from the economy. Advancing the economy depends on how strong our financial condition is. Indonesia will enter the first demographic bonus in 2024, so we need an intervention in every path. The oil palm is now in great condition, so it requires another touch and perspective equation", he explained.
