Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Papua Regional Police affirmed that they would optimally create a secure condition related to the 20th National Sports Week (PON XX) in Papua, which is scheduled to open on October 2 to 15.
Chief of PR and Press Agency of Papua Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, stated that until now, the situation in Papua is still conducive, and public activities are running well.
"Police and Armed Forces and the participants of community security and order are quite supportive in order to prepare the event held by our brothers and sisters in approaching the arrival of the athletes, officials, and spectators. Therefore, we are trying as hard as possible to ensure and convince everyone coming to Papua that their safety is guaranteed. That's for sure", the Chief of PR and Press Agency of Papua Regional Police said on Monday (06/09/21).
Police Grand Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal explained that Armed Criminal Groups (KKB) and West Papua National Committee (KNPB) are threats. They spread the violence issues to fail the PON XX. Even the issues on the attack Military Area Command Preparatory Checkpoint of Kisor, South Aifat District, Maybrat regency, West Papua, some time ago.
"For Maybrat case, it is in West Papua. However, they are our family. Not all Indonesians know that the incident happen not in the region of Papua Regional Police but in West Papua Regional Police. However, due to the developing situations and issues spread by KKB and KNPB on how they design this to fail, this outstanding national event was waited by the Papuans. These issues, either online or offline, have been patrolled by the Police. We watched them designing propaganda and issues to give a sense of fear", the Middle Officer of Papua Regional Police said.
Armed Forces and Police keeps giving and creating a conducive community security and order situation.
"We also try our best to give confidence that community security and order situation in Papua to be conducive, and we hope that four host cities of PON XX, Jayapura city, Jayapura regency, Mimika regency, and Merauke regency, to be conducive because the strength of Armed Forces and Police and the community's potentials have been on the maximum", Chief of PR and Press Agency of Papua Regional Police concluded.
