Central Java Regional Police Launched “Aku Sedulurmu” Program to Care for Orphans

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Semarang. Concern for orphans whose parents died of Covid-19, Central Java Regional Police launched Aku Sedulurmu program to help these children.

Head of Public Affairs of Central Java Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner M Iqbal Alqudusy said, Aku Sedulurmu program will target children who are victims of Covid-19 throughout Central Java by helping education fee.

Head of Public Affairs of Central Java Police added that Central Java Regional Police would help educational fee from Elementary School (SD) to Senior High School (SMA) apart aid fulfilled by the government.

“We will help with the cost of uniforms and shoes as well as for additional lessons. This fee can also be used flexibly for additional needs for stationery, books, practice fees and so on,” Head of Public Affairs of Central Java Regional Police explained.

Head of Public Affairs of Central Java Regional Police added if there are family, relatives or neighbors who have become orphans due to Covid-19, they should register immediately with Resort Police in their respective regions.

Based on data from Covid-19 Handling Task Force as of July 20, 2021, it is known that 11,045 children have become orphans. On the other hand, number of children exposed to Covid-19 was 350,000 children and 777 children died.

Children level risk in exposuring to Covid-19 is very high. Therefore, Government has set policy of accelerating vaccination for children at least 12 years olf.

Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini explained that Ministry of Social Affairs through Center for Social Rehabilitation and Social Rehabilitation Facilitators had received reports regarding children by name by address whose parents died of Covid-19.

"So far, accurate data by name by address regarding orphans whose parents died of Covid-19 are still in the process of being collected by our team in the field. However, facilitators have also carried out case responses for these children,” Minister of Social Affairs explained.
