Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Serang. Increasing number of Covid-19 spread has forced central government, in this case President Jokowi to implement Emergency Community Activity Restriction (PPKM) policy, started from Saturday (07/03) to (07/20). The objective is to suppress/minimize the virus spread.
Responding to this, Banten Regional Police stated they are ready to support the policy.
Several steps have been taken by Banten Regional Police to suppress the spread of Covid-19, such as establishing several mobilization control posts, insulation posts, disciplinary patrol for Emergency PPKM, judicial operations, mass vaccination, closing protocol roads and so on.
"Control post and insulation post aim to prevent people from outside Banten area from entering Banten," Chief of Banten Regional Police, Police Inspector General Dr. Rudy Heriyanto said after conducting large-scale patrol (07/05/2021).
Chief of Banten Regional Police also explained there is acccess restrictions for people who would cross to Sumatera via Merak port.
"There is an order for [access restriction of crossing from Merak to Bakauheni, it has been implemented as when we carried out homecoming ban. So rapid antigen is a must, there has to be a certificate to go across, including must have vaccine certificate. It is important to have the forst dose vaccine, " Chief of Banten Regional Police explained.
Chief of Banten Regional Police also said Banten Regional Police would open a vaccination service on ferry.
“I have reported earlier that if possible, we from Banten Regional Police will provide vaccination on ferry. Because if we carry out vaccinations in Merak, it will hamper distribution, but if on ships it will not hamper distribution, because there is about 1.5 to 2 hours to administer the vaccine, as well as on the return," Chief of Banten Regional Police said.
Meanwhile, Head of Public Affairs of Banten Regional Police, Police Grand Commissioner Edy Sumardi added, "Purpose of vaccination on ferry is to make it easier for people to cross using the ferry, especially for logistics transport drivers.”
