Christmas in West Sulawesi Will be Secured by 1,076 personnel

The West Sulawesi Regional Police are ready to secure the 2022 Christmas and 2023 New Year celebrations by deploying 1,076 joint TNI-Polri personnel, along with related agencies. Their security operation is part of Operation Lilin 2022.

West Sulawesi Regional Police Chief Inspector General Verdianto Iskandar Bitticaca, explained that their security operation will focused on securing churches, shopping areas, tourist attractions, and other crowded places.

"We are trying to ensure that our Christian fellow will feel safe and comfortable in celebrating Christmas," explained the West Sulawesi Regional Police Chief, Thursday (12/22).

The West Sulawesi Regional Police Chief revealed that his party had also prepared security posts in various cities. This was done to secure the mobility of the community during holidays. Security posts are scattered at all entrances of each district to the borders between provinces.

"Among them are Pasangkayu Regency which connects West Sulawesi and Central Sulawesi and Polewali Mandar Regency which connects West Sulawesi and South Sulawesi. The flow of transportation must be maintained smoothly and it is hoped that it can prevent the entry of criminals from other areas to West Sulawesi," said the West Sulawesi Regional Police Chief.
