Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Aceh. Aceh Regional Police held Covid-19 mass vaccination for public transport drivers. Aceh Regional Police together Indonesia National Armed Forces and Aceh Transportation Agency are targeting drivers because they are classified as vulnerable to infection and transmission.
Mass vaccination was held at Terminal Type A Batoh, Banda Aceh. Drivers of Trans Kutaraja and other transportation took part in this vaccination.
"Why do we focus on our friends, the drivers? Because drivers are potentially vulnerable, potential to be exposed and also to transmit," Chief of Aceh Regional, Police Inspector General of Wahyu Widada said, Wednesday (07/142021).
According to Chief of Aceh Regional Police, in carrying out his duties, drivers often interact with passengers. It is impossible to count how many people are served by the driver every day, thus opening up the potential for transmission.
"We never know many people sit beside the drivers, how many people. Many passengers change every day. If one person gets hit, tracing is difficult," Chief of Aceh Regional Police said.
This mass vaccination can also be followed by general public, including passengers at Batoh Terminal.
Chief of Aceh Regional Police appreciates public high enthusiasm to follow the mass vaccination. He believes vaccination is the defense agaist Covid-19, and complying with health protocols to fight the pandemic.
"People are enthusiastic about taking vaccines. This is good news for all of us," Chief of Aceh Regional Police said.
