The Rebels in Papua Must Be Handled Firmly

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Violence continues to occur in Indonesia’s easternmost province, Papua. Last Wednesday, another school was burned by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua. Saturday (2/4/22).

It didn’t stop there, this separatist group also persecuted two innocent civilians. The brutal actions of the KKB, which continue to disturb the residents there and often cause casualties, certainly cannot be allowed to continue.

It’s time we act firmly against groups that disturb the security and public order there. According to communication observer, Rahmat Edi Irawan, the government should not be afraid to argue with them in the media. If it is necessary to take firm action against them, the strategy of ‘war in the media’ also needs to be carried out.

With the various harsh and brutal actions they did, including against civilians, we should have won public opinion, including those who were abroad. Because we face criminal gangs who often caused trouble.
