Jokowi Will Attend 20 Meetings Before ASEAN Summit

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President of the Republic of Indonesia Joko Widodo (Jokowi) is scheduled to attend 20 meetings on the sidelines of the 40th and 41st Southeast Asian Nations Summit (ASEAN Summit) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, on November 10-13.

"A total of about 20 meetings and activities will be attended by the President at the ASEAN Summit," said the Indonesian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno Lestari Priansari Marsudi, quoted on the official website of the Indonesian Cabinet Secretariat, Wednesday (9/11) night.

President Jokowi will start by visiting the Royal Palace of Cambodia. There the President will hold a closed audience with Cambodia's King Norodom Sihamoni.

Furthermore, President Jokowi will also attend a meeting of ASEAN leaders with representatives of the ASEAN Inter-Parliament Assembly (AIPA) which will take place at the Sokha Phnom Penh Hotel. At this event the President will have a meeting with the President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

Jokowi is also scheduled to attend a high-level meeting of leaders of the Growth Triangle (IMT-GT). At this meeting the President will conduct several bilateral meetings.

"For the retreat, there are two major issues to be discussed, namely ASEAN's relations with external parties, of course including the external challenges faced by ASEAN, and the problems in Myanmar," explained the Foreign Minister.

The ASEAN Summit will be held in a plenary and retreat. During the plenary session, the forum will discuss the strengthening and capacity of ASEAN institutions and effectiveness.
