Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jayapura. The Psychologist Team of the Human Resource Bureau of the Papua Regional Police provided counseling to the earthquake refugees at the BTN Bank field and the Fransiscus Church yard in Jayapura City, Papua on February 12, 2023.

Police Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Prabowo, the Chief of Public Relations Department of the Papua Regional Police, said that the counseling was aimed at reducing the excessive anxiety experienced by the refugees due to the magnitude 5.4 earthquake that struck Jayapura City on February 9, 2023, claiming four individuals and resulted in damage to a number of homes and public facilities.

“The team provided individual counseling and relaxation methods for adults and playing methods for children. We also distributed gifts to children around the location,” he said on Monday (2/13/2023).

He hoped that the presence of the psychologists from his department would bring comfort and ease to the refugees, particularly the children.

“The children at the refugee location appeared to be happy with the presence of our team,” he said.
