Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Chief of the Indonesian National Police (INP) General Listyo Sigit Prabowo attended the International Workers’ Day rally, also known as May Day, at Istora Senayan in Jakarta on Monday (1/5/23). He conveyed his greetings to all colleagues from confederations, alliances, and unions in Indonesia and expressed his hope that labor groups would continue their fight for better welfare and superior human resources quality to hold strategic positions.

He pointed out that the government’s promotion of industrialization had created 1.4 million new jobs in 2022, providing a significant opportunity for workers to improve themselves. He thanked labor groups for their contribution to the Indonesian economy, which has seen a 9% increase in exports, with a realization of $23.5 billion, marking 35 consecutive surpluses.

He pledged that the police would continue to guard and secure labor groups in their fight for their aspirations and rights and emphasized the importance of cooperation between labor and industry to fill Indonesia’s economic growth.

“Thanks to the cooperation between labor and industry, Indonesia is currently growing at a rate of 5%. An extraordinary economic growth. We are number four in the G-20 countries and number four in Asian countries. And all of this is thanks to the hard work of labor and all other elements of the nation,” he said.

He noted that all May Day rallies in 116 locations across Indonesia had run safely and peacefully, with an appreciation for labor groups and police personnel who worked together to create a safe and peaceful environment. A safe and peaceful situation would improve the investment climate and create opportunities to improve workers’ welfare.

The President of KSPI (Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions) Said Iqbal expressed his appreciation to the Chief of INP and all ranks who had provided optimal and humane security to all labor elements when expressing their aspirations.
