Kapolda Sumut Determined to Arrest The Perpetrators of the Shipment of Illegal Indonesian Migrant Workers

inp.polri.go.id – Medan. North Sumatra Police Chief (Kapolda Sumut) Inspector General Drs. R.Z. Panca Putra Simanjuntak, M.Sc., determined to pursue the three perpetrators of the illegal ship of Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) that shipwrecked in the waters of Tanjung Api, Asahan.

The three perpetrators are, R who organized as well as the owner of the shelter, ST the coordinator, and SF the owner of the ship.

Other than announcing the three fugitives, the North Sumatran Police (Polda Sumut) also named five suspects for the sinking of the illegal PMI ship.

The five suspects are H a.k.a S as the captain of the ship, RD as the crew, S as the mechanic, RD as the cook, and RR as the reservoir.

Kapolda Sumut said that the authorities were also investigating various parties involved in sending these illegal migrant workers.

"Including those who recruit them," explained Kapolda Sumut, Thursday (24/3/22).

The North Sumatran Regional Police Chief emphasized that his party would cooperate with the Regional Police of the migrant's area of origin to track down the recruiters.

He said that this step was an effort to prevent the same case from happening again.

Polda Sumut will work closely with the local government to carry out stricter supervision.

The North Sumatran authorities would apply the most severe articles to the perpetrators of this crime.

According to Kapolda Sumut, this kind of illegal PMI shipment, especially on the west coast, has occurred several times.

He determined that this kind of crime will not happen again. The police will act decisively, and there will be no mercy for the perpetrators.

"To the community, we also implore you to help us track down and eradicate these recruiters," said Kapolda Sumut.

As for the 86 illegal PMIs who boarded the ship, 27 of them came from NTT, 10 from NTB, 6 from West Java, 19 from East Java, 1 from Lampung, 11 from South Sulawesi, 2 from Banten, 3 from North Sumatra, 6 from Central Java, and 1 from Jambi.
