He said violators of emergency PPKM could be punished. People can be charged with Article 14 of Law Number 4 the Year 1984 on Outbreaks of Infectious Diseases, with a threat of one year in prison.
The former Chief of East Java Regional Police hopes people are aware of COVID-19 danger. The number of daily active cases in Jakarta has reached 10,903 per day.
"That's a big number. If you stand on the road, you can see how many ambulances are passing by carrying people critical of Covid-19," s Chief of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police said.
He also mentioned Jakarta is entering an emergency phase. He asked people to comply with health protocols.
Chief of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police hopes the community will start following the emergency PPKM rules. He ensured violators of emergency PPKM would be penalized if they continued to ignore it.
"Enforcement of the law is one way, but if you continue to force yourself out, we will enforce it. We are never tired of keeping people healthy," the Chief of Greater Jakarta Metropolitan Police mentioned.
