Police Extend the 2021 Madago Raya Operation Period

Indonesian National Police issued a telegram letter numbered STR/556/OPS.1.3/2021 dated June 26, 2021, on Extension of 2021 Madago Raya Operation Period in Poso, Central Sulawesi. Chief of Task Force PR of Madago Raya Operation, Police Grand Commissioner Didik Supranoto, in his written statement received in Jakarta on Monday said that the Chief of Police's telegram letter, which signed by Operational Assistant of the Chief of National Police, Police Inspector General Imam Sugianto, contains the continuation of Madago Raya Operation to the third stage. "The telegram affirms that Police operation in the area of Central Sulawesi Regional Police is backed up by the National Police and Armed Forces, coded 2021 Madago Raya Operation Stage 2, ended on June 30, 2021, and will continue to Madago Raya Operation Stage 3 started on July 1 to September 30, 2021", Police Grand Commissioner Didik Supranoto said. Chief of Task Force PR of Madago Raya Operation explained that by extending the 2021 Madago Raya Operation, the hunting for the Mujahidin Indonesia Timur (MIT) terrorist group led by Ali Kalora would keep going. In this Madago Raya Operation Stage 3, Chief of Task Force PR continues, the involvement of forces will be not much different compared to Stage 2. The Task force focuses on searching, pursuing, arresting, and enforcing the law to the nine Poso's MIT members on the wanted list. This operation is conducted in order to enforce the law towards the terrorist criminals to build a safe and conducive public security and order in Central Sulawesi. "Terrorists are our common enemy. Our country cannot be defeated by them", Chief of Task Force PR said. Central Sulawesi Regional Police appeals to those terrorism criminal perpetrators in Poso regency who join the Poso's MIT group and are on the wanted list to surrender. "Central Sulawesi Regional Police, along with religious figures, will guarantee safety, security, and treatment in accordance to human rights", Chief of Task Force PR said. Madago Raya Task Force Operation, which was commenced from January 1 to March 31, 2021, was a continuation of the Tinabalo Task Force Operation, formed to pursuit the MIT's hardline group led by Ali Kalora, a fugitive included in the wanted list. The Madago Raya Operation has been extended from April 1 to the next three months (July 31, 2021). MIT members on the wanted list in pursuit by Madago Raya Task Force Operation (joint forces of Armed Forces-Police) now leaving nine out of eleven people from the wanted list. Two people on the wanted list were shot dead in a shootout at the beginning of 2021, and an Armed Forces personnel has fallen during the incident. Meanwhile, from the received information in the field, the MIT group was split in two: Ali Kalora's group (4 people) and Qatar's group (5 people). Qatar's group is believed to often terrors and kills farmers in Lore, Poso regency, including killed four farmers on May 11, 2021, in Kalimango village.
