tribratanews.polri.go.id - Eight suspects related to the case of human slavery by the former regent of Langkat, Terbit Rencana Perangin Angin, have been detained by the police at the North Sumatra Police Headquarters.

The attorney for the suspects, Sanggap Surbakti, confirmed the news. "It's true, they have been detained," said Sangap when confirmed on Friday (4/8/2022).

The eight suspects were detained by the police on Friday morning, at around 04.00 WIB. Before that, the North Sumatran Police (Polda Sumut) contacted their legal representative to take them to the North Sumatra Police Headquarters.

Sampang said he was asked to take the eight suspects to the North Sumatra Police Headquarters for detention. "I asked, for what? And they said for detention," said Sangap.

After that, Sangap immediately gathered all the suspects until Thursday midnight. He immediately escorted the suspects to the North Sumatra Police HQ and finished on Friday morning.

"I finished escorting them at four in the morning," said Sangap.

Previously, the police had identified eight suspects in the human slavery case of the inactive Langkat Regent. The suspects will face a maximum of 15 years in prison.

"The seven suspects have the initials of HS, IS, TS, RG, JS, DP, and HG, and will be charged with Article 7 of RI Law No. 21 of 2007 concerning the eradication of criminal acts of trafficking in persons with a penalty of 15 years," said the Head of Public Relations (Kabid Humas) of Polda Sumut, Commissioner Hadi Wahyudi

"The two suspects with the initials SP and TS will be charged with Article 2 of the RI Law No. 21 of 2007 with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison," he adds.

After being identified as suspects, the eight were sent home and not detained because they were considered cooperative.

In the investigation process, the police also investigated the wife and younger sister of Terbit Rencana Perangin Angin. Not only that, the cooks, security officers, and the supervisor of Terbit's form PKS party were also questioned by the police.

Not long after, Polda Sumut then determined the issuance of Terbit Rencana Perangin Angin as a suspect in this case. He was charged with multiple articles.

This case began with the findings of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) regarding the existence of a human cage in the house of Terbit Rencana Perangin Angin during their search for his corruption case. This case was then investigated by the police, Komnas HAM, and LPSK.

Deputy Chairperson of LPSK Edwin Partogi Pasaribu admitted he found very sadistic violence evidence in that cage.

"It is very sadistic! As I have advocated for victims of violence for approximately 20 years, I have never seen violence as sadistic as this," said Edwin at a press conference at the LPSK building, Wednesday (9/3).

There were many victims of the Langkat Regent's cage. The victims experienced different torture from one another.
