Police Public Relations Division Collaborates with Social Media Activists to Fight Hoax and Disinformation

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Public Relations Division of the National Police is collaborating with social media activists to jointly eradicate fake news (hoaxes) and disinformation. Because these two things will be circulating more and more on social media ahead of the 2023 Election.

Head of the Multimedia Bureau of the Public Relations Division of the National Police, Police Brigadier General Gatot Repli Handoko, explained that the National Police cannot act alone in facing the challenges of spreading hoaxes and disinformation. Therefore, to ward off hoaxes and provide literacy to the public, INP must be carried out together with social media activists.

"INP requires the cooperation and participation of all Digital Media Activists (INP & Non-INP) in maintaining peace in the digital space before, during, and after the 2024 election. In handling disinformation, especially in anticipating the rise of hoaxes to prevent polarization in society," said Gatot Repli, Tuesday (14/3/23).

Gatot Repli explained that digital media must be filled with positive content that is educative and informative according to the genre of each Social Media Platform (FB, Twitter, Youtube, TikTok, Instagram, Hello, and Snack Video) according to current issues. , especially national issues. Social media activists must also be pioneers in managing digital media in their respective environments, and invite the surrounding community to care about maintaining peace in the digital space.

"If you find content that is predicted to create upheaval in society regarding issues of SARA (Ethnicity, Religion, Race, and Intergroup) and polarization, please report it," said Gatot Repli.
