385 Indonesian Citizens Evacuated from Sudan Conflict Arrived in Jakarta

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The ongoing conflict in Sudan between the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) and the Sudanese army has led to the evacuation of thousands of people, including Indonesian citizens.

On Friday (28/4/3), a group of 385 Indonesian citizens who had been evacuated from the country arrived in Indonesia, Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi confirmed.

“Thank god, 385 Indonesian citizens on Garuda Indonesia GA 991 have landed here in Jakarta at around 5.46 AM,” she said.

The group, comprising 248 women, 137 men, and 43 children will stay temporarily at the Haji Pondok Gede dormitory before returning to their respective regions.

Meanwhile, the process of evacuating Indonesian citizens from Sudan to Indonesia will continue in stages. “According to the plan, the second phase of evacuation will be carried out on April 29,” she said.

So far, a total of 897 Indonesian citizens have been evacuated from Khartoum to Port Sudan. Of that number, 667 Indonesian citizens have already arrived in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
