Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Papua. Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri, the Chief of Papua Regional Police, has urged the Muslim communities living in vulnerable areas to not hold Eid al-Fitr prayer in open spaces, such as open fields, to prevent any security disturbances during the Muslim community’s Eid al-Fitr prayer.

He revealed that the areas falling under the category of vulnerable areas include the Regency of Puncak Jaya, Puncak, Nduga, Intan Jaya, Yahukimo, and Bintang Mountains.

“Through the sub-regional police chiefs in these areas, it has been advised to hold the prayer in mosques or closed spaces instead,” he said on Tuesday (18/4/23).

The Indonesian Military and Indonesian National Police (INP) have made maximum efforts to secure the area, including providing security during the Taraweeh prayer, he added.

As previously reported, the police chief had announced that the 2023 Eid al-Fitr security operation, named “Ketupat Cartenz,” involved a combined force of 2.665 personnel.
