An Indonesian Died in Airplane Crash on Crete, Greece

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - An Indonesian citizen (WNI) died in a plane crash while on his way from Iraqlion airport on the island of Crete to Egypt, Wednesday (12/15).

The ill-fated aircraft is known to be registered in Indonesia. The plane that took off from Iraqlio Airport, Greece headed to Egypt, crashed in the sea off the island of Crete, moments after sending an SOS signal. In the ERT report, quoted from Anadolu, the SOS signal was sent around 09:55 local time.

Quoted from cnnindonesia.com on Friday (12/16), the plane was carrying two people, one Indonesian citizen aged 62 and the other a citizen of South Africa aged 32. The SAR team had performed CPR when the Indonesian citizen was found unconscious, but the doctor declared that the Indonesian citizen had died at the Venizeleio Hospital. Meanwhile, the South African citizen was stated to be in good condition.

Meanwhile, quoted from detik.com on Friday (12/16), the accident that resulted in the death of an Indonesian citizen was found to be the pilot of the plane. "The Indonesian Embassy in Athens has received information from the Greek Hellenic Coast Guard (HCG) regarding a single-engine plane crash off the north coast of Heraklion, Crete, Thursday (12/16)," said Ministry of Foreign Affairs spokesperson Teuku Faizasyah, when contacted, Friday (12/16).

Until now, the Greek authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident. The Indonesian Embassy in Athens is said to continue to communicate with Greek authorities to get the latest information.
