The Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ensures no Indonesians Involved in Thai Mass Shooting

Tribratanews.polri.go.id -  The Ministry of Foreign Affairs ensured that no Indonesian citizens were a victim in a mass shooting incident at a daycare center in Thailand, Thursday (6/10/22).

"Until now, there is no information about Indonesian citizens who became the victims of the shooting incident in Nong Bua District, Lamphu Province, Thailand," said the Director of Protection for Indonesian Citizens and Legal Entities of the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Judha Nugraha, as reported by CNNIndonesia.com, via a short message.

Judha added that the Indonesian Embassy in Bangkok had coordinated with the Thai Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indonesian citizen there, especially those who are in Nong Bua District, Lamphu Province, where the incident took place.

Previously it was reported that there was a shooting that killed 34 people, 23 of them were children. The youngest victim was two years old.

District official Jidapa Boonsom said the shooting began when an unidentified man came to a daycare center at lunchtime. About 30 children were at the daycare when the man arrived.

"The perpetrator first shot four or five staff, including a teacher who was eight months pregnant," the official said.

Police identified the perpetrator as 34-year-old Panya Kamrab. He is a former police officer who was fired last year for using illegal drugs. After committing the mass murder, local media reported Panya shot himself as well as his wife and children.
