Indonesia’s First Phase of Humanitarian Aid Arrives in Turkey

Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Indonesian government has responded quickly to the recent earthquake in Turkey, with the first phase of humanitarian aid arriving on Sunday (12/02/23). The aid was dispatched from Halim Airport on Saturday, carried by a Boeing 737-A400 and a Hercules C30 aircraft of the Indonesian Air Force.

“Our MUSAR INASAR team that was dispatched to Turkey from Halim Airport yesterday is planned to arrive at Gaziantep City at around 9 am local time,” said Deputy Assistant of Emergency and After Disaster Management of the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs Nelwan Harahap, referring to Medium Urban SAR of National SAR Agency.

The team that is comprised of 47 personnel and other SAR elements will be on duty for the duration of two weeks, with the possibility of extension if requested by the Turkish government.

Meanwhile, phase two of the aid consisting of 105 medical personnel are planned to be dispatched on Monday (13/02/23).

“The personnel sent there are equipped with standard equipment as requested by the Turkish government. Our INASAR team will be centralized in the city of Gaziantep in accordance with the instructions and coordination from our embassy. Medical personnel are sourced from the Health Crisis Center of the Ministry of Health, health personnel from Indonesian Military-INP, and civilians,” he explained.

This is only the first step in a three-part humanitarian aid effort from Indonesia to assist with the earthquake in Turkey and Syria, he concluded.
