Police Investigators Examines the Witnesses of Market Mardika Fire

Members of the National Police Forensic Laboratory conducted investigations of the fires that blazed Lorong Tahu to Mardika Market, Sirimau District, Ambon City, which killed two people. From this incident, six people were questioned and examined as witnesses.

“We begin our investigation from the point where the fire first started, and took a DNA sample from the victims. We also examined six witnesses, Salim, Baim, Risman, Halija, Hasana, and Nani,” said the Public Relations Chief of Ambon and Lease Island Police, Ipda Moyo Utomo, Monday (12/12).

Meanwhile, the Ambon and Lease Island Police Chief, Commissioner Raja Arthur Lumongga Simamora, said that the fire, also caused huge losses and more than 800 people were forced to take shelter in refugee camps.

“We will add one more evacuation post for the refugees and one more for logistics storage,” said Commissioner Raja, accompanied by the Mayor, Bodewin M. Wattimena, after visiting the evacuation posts.
