Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Wamena. The police have arrested 13 people in connection with the riot in Wamena, Jayawijaya Regency, and Highlands Papua on Thursday (2/23/23). The riot resulted in the deaths of 10 people.
“Some were arrested, while only 13 people,” explained the Chief of the Public relation Department of the Papua Police, Police Senior Superintendent Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo,
in a written statement via text message, Saturday (25/2/23).
As previously reported, a riot in Wamena left 18 TNI and Polri personnel injured. The initial riot was allegedly related to the issue of child abduction. In addition to the 10 people who died, 14 people were injured. In addition, 13 houses were burned during the riots.
