Tribratanews.polri.go.id – Surabaya. The Surabaya Sub-Regional Large City Police has successfully thwarted a major drug trafficking. Two suspects, MF, 23-year-old, and AP, 28-year-old, has been arrested along with the evidence of methamphetamine, locally known as “sabu-sabu”.

“The suspects were part of an inter-provincial drug trafficking network from Sumatra. The police arrested them as they disembarked from the Sembrani Train at Pasar Turi Station in Surabaya,” said Police Senior Superintendent Akhmad Yusep Gunawan, the Head of Surabaya Sub-Regional Large City Police on Monday (13/3/23).

The police investigation revealed that the methamphetamine was obtained from a supplier identified as KS. MF and AP had procured the drugs from KS in a hotel room in Pekanbaru City, Riau, before transporting them to Java Island through land and sea routes.

The police confiscated 23 packets of methamphetamine with a total weight of 24,1 kg from the suspects during the operation, as confirmed by the police chief.

“We are continuing our investigation to identify and arrest other suspects involved in the drug trafficking network, one of which is KS, the supplier of the drugs,” he concluded.
