Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Medan. The North Sumatra Police's sub-directorate IV Certain crimes team managed to uncover the illegal sale of pangolin scales, a protected rare animal. The evidence seized was a burlap sack containing 16 kg of pangolin scales.

The Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, Commissioner Hadi Wahyudi, explained that the disclosure of this case began with reports from the public regarding two men who traded pangolin scales. When the examination was carried out, the two people were immediately secured and taken to the North Sumatra Police Headquarters for examination.

"The two perpetrators have violated Article 40 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 21 paragraph (2) letter D of Law no. 05 of 1990 concerning the conservation of natural resources and their ecosystems. Because in accordance with the Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation Number 106 of 2018, pangolin species are protected animals," explained the Head of Public Relations of the North Sumatra Police, quoted from tribratanews.sumut.polri.go.id, Thursday (11/10).
