South Sumatra Police Discovered Illegal Trafficking of Bootleg Liquors

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Palembang. Unit IV Sub-Directorate I Team for Industry, Trade, and Investment Crime of the South Sumatra Regional Police's Criminal Investigation Unit succeeded in uncovering the the circulation of counterfeit liquor in Banyuasin. In this disclosure, officers found a cottage industry that produces bootleg alcohol on Tanjung Api-api (TAA) street near the Transmigration Office.

Head of Industry, Trade, and Investment Crime, AKBP Hadi Syaeifudin, said his party also arrested the perpetrator named Suliyanto. His party also confiscated 1,600 bottles of Mansion House liquor, “and 1,872 bottles of vodka," said AKBP Hadi Saefudin.

AKBP Hadi explained that officers found 312 bottles of adulterated liquor produced by the perpetrators. The bootleg liquor is relatively new, but its circulation has been to various provinces. The profit earned by the perpetrators is Rp75,000 per box, which makes the total profit o0btained by the perpetrators during his eight months of operation was Rp. 60 million.

"The suspect was detained and charged with Article 62 Paragraph 1 in conjunction with Article 8 Paragraph 1 of Law No. 8 of 1999 with a penalty of five years in prison," explained AKBP Hadi.
