Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Pekanbaru. The Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Riau Police destroyed the drug evidence from the international narcotics network from Malaysia which had been uncovered in the last 2 months.
The evidence of 243 kg of crystal methamphetamine and 405,527 ecstasy pills that were destroyed, by tossing them to a boiling water, were from eight cases handled by the Directorate of Drugs Investigation of the Riau Regional Police and the Drug Investigation Unit of the Dumai Police.
The Riau Deputy Police Chief, Brigadier General Tabana Bangun, explained that of the eight drug cases, seven of them were handled by the Directorate of Drug Investigation of the Riau Police.
In addition to securing evidence, police officers managed to secure 27 suspects from the drug international network.
Brigadier General Tabana Bangun said the suspects were charged with Article 114 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 112 paragraph (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of RI Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics.
"They could be punished with capital punishment, life imprisonment, or imprisonment for a minimum of six years or a maximum of 20 twenty years," concluded the One-Star General.
