Fishermen Smuggled 30 Kg of Methamphetamine Trashed by the Police

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Bengkalis. The Bengkalis Police succeeded in thwarting the smuggling of 30 kg of methamphetamine from an international drug network. The illicit goods were supplied to Api-api Laut Village, Bengkalis Regency via Malaysia.

Bengkalis Police Chief AKBP Indra Wijatmiko, explained that three perpetrators were successfully secured, each of them had their own respective roles. The perpetrators worked as fishermen. The drugs were stored in in three backpacks. In the arrest the police confiscated the drugs and also four cellphone units.

"During the arrest, the perpetrators Muhammad Hatta and Herwan initially said that they had just returned from fishing. But after awhile, both admitted that they were ordered by Herman Tino, a resident of Pekanbaru. The two perpetrators were promised a wage of IDR 2.5 million per kg,” explained AKBP Indra Wijatmiko, quoted by darigoriau.com, Monday (11/21).

The police chief revealed that in the end, the three suspects were arrested and the evidence was immediately taken to the Bengkalis Police Headquarters for further examination.

"These perpetrators were charged with Article 114 (2) and Article 112 (2) in conjunction with Article 132 paragraph (1) of Law Number 35 of 2009. They are threatend with death penalty or life imprisonment," concluded AKBP Indra.
