Based on the information received, the fire started from an explosion that caused vibrations around the refinery area. However, the fire that emerged as a result of the explosion was quickly extinguished and brought under control.

The Mayor of Dumai H. Paisal, together with the Head of the Dumai Resort Police, Police Superintendent Nurhadi Ismanto, and the Commander of the 0320 Dumai Military District, Lt. Col. Arh Hermansyah Tarigan, then appealed and calmed the community by inviting representatives for mediation.
"During the mediation, direct checks were also carried out at the fire scene to obtain the real situation at the fire scene to prevent misinformation and reassure the people around the PT. KPI RU II Dumai after the fire," he said.
After mediating related parties and community representatives, the condition and situation of the fire that had been extinguished and safe then made the community calm and conducive.
Currently, Pertamina and other related parties are investigating the cause of the explosion and fire which resulted in several employees being injured.
"The cause of the explosion is still under investigation," he concluded.
