Police Detain 5 Suspects in Alleged Corruption Cases of Paving Roads in Simeulue

Tribratanews.polri.go.id - Banda Aceh. The Aceh Regional Police, through the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation, detained five suspects in the Corruption Crime (Tipidkor) case on road paving work in Simeulue Regency, Wednesday (11/24/21).

Aceh Regional Police's Directorate of Special Criminal investigation, Pol. Grand Commissioner Sony Sonjaya, in his written statement, conveyed that the five suspects detained were IS who was the former Head of Information and Communications Agency Simeulue, IH as Head of Ministry of Public Housing at Simeulue, YA as Director of CV ABL (company initials-ed), AS as Proxy of the Board of Directors of PT IMJ (company initials-ed), and MI which is Activity Technical Implementing Officer.

Previously, investigators had named the five people as suspects and confiscated several pieces of evidence in the form of documents, ranging from planning, implementation to payment.

"These five people are suspects in the road work corruption case in Simeulue. Currently, they have been detained at the Aceh Regional Police," said the Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation, Thursday (11/25/21) at the Aceh Regional Police Headquarters.

At the same time, Aceh regional police'spolice's Directorate of Special Criminal Investigation, Pol. Grand Commissioner Sony Sonjaya, also mentioned that the corruption case occurred in 2019. The asphalt project was budgeted for by the Public Works and Activity Technical Implementing Officer (PUPR) of Simeulue Regency.

"This case occurred in 2019. Where the Simeulue Activity Technical Implementing Officer Service has a job in the form of asphalting the Simpang Batu Ragi road-road towards Simpang Patriot with a contract value of IDR 12,826,492,000," he explained.

As for the suspects, Article 2 paragraph (1) or Article 3 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption is applied as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption. Article 55 paragraph (1) to 1 of the Criminal Code.
