The Head of the Indramayu Police, AKBP M Lukman Syarif, said this activity was carried out because there were a lot of piles of dirt and garbage in the sewers. It is feared that this will eventually cause flooding, especially at this time where often occurs downpour.

"This Jumsih (Clean Friday) social service activity is a form of our concern, that is carried out by cleaning water channels / sewers for approximately 900 meters using tools such as hoes, machetes, brooms, carts, etc.," explained the Indramayu Police Chief, quoted from journalpolri.com.

Meanwhile, the Head of Public Relations of the West Java Police, Commissioner Ibrahim Tompo, urges the public to be aware with the current extreme weather that can change at any time, reduce unnecessary travel during rainy weather and don't forget to throw their garbage according to its place, not in the river which can cause clogged drains that eventually can cause flooding.

"In addition to causing flooding, if the sewer is clogged, it can also become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and causing various diseases such as dengue fever," explained the Head of Public Relations.

At the same time, the Head of Waru Kardam Village expressed his gratitude to the who had helped cleaned the sewers along with the community.

"Hopefully, with this activity, the police, together with the government and the community, will be more solid in maintaining public safety and security," said the Waru Village Head.
