The Ministry of Home Affairs Promotes Woven And Songket Fabrics in National and International Community

Tribratanews.polri.go.id -  The Ministry of Home Affairs is committed to providing full support to promote woven and songket fabrics in the national and international community. Songket and woven fabrics are part of Indonesian cultures that should be preserved.

"I think what has been said earlier is that we will collaborate with all related stakeholders," said the Director of Economic, Social and Cultural Resilience of the Ministry of Home Affairs, La Ode Ahmad P Balombo, in a written statement, Monday (3/10/2022).

Laode ensured that his party would invite a number of relevant stakeholders to play a role in cultivating and promoting traditional Indonesian weaving and songket. He also mentioned that promoting woven fabrics and songket in the 2022 Indonesian Weaving and Songket Competition is an extraordinary breakthrough and needs to be appreciated.

"We hope that this promotion will be extraordinary. Therefore, through the use of clothing in all government agencies and all regions, entrepreneurs are required to use traditional weaving and songket to become part of the uniform," explained La Ode.

Meanwhile, the General Chair of the Indonesian Community International Fashion Art & UKM (Kadiifa), Anna Mariana, said that to cultivate and promote traditional woven and songket fabrics, innovation is needed so that the use of traditional woven and songket fabrics could gain the interest of millenials and enjoyed by them.

"Developing traditional weaving and songket in an innovative way is very important in today's era. The younger generation are rich with good ideas and creativity and also understand the advanced technology in today's era," said Anna.

Anna believes that in the era of digitalization, all parties need to make breakthroughs in terms of marketing. This is because the presence of rich e-commerce can make traditional woven and songket products to be much more developed and more advanced.

"We hope that through today’s technology, the young generation of the Indonesia can admire, understand, and appreciate their own culture," Anna concluded.
